Hello and Welcome, Interesting line-up of SIG's this week, so if you can spare the some time come and join your fellow members in the search for answers to any computer problems you may be having. Tuesday 19 May - Seniors - Graham Grant - 10 am - 12 noon The Seniors SIG will start with Q & A, so if you have any difficult problems bring them along for us to solve. The main topic will be presented by Peter Collard, who will give us a talk on GPS units that will hopefully, stop those of you who have one from getting lost. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Tuesday 19 May - Genealogy - Terry Eakin - 1 pm - 3 pm Today, fellow member Joan Robertson will be giving a demo on how to use Family Tree Maker program to record your family tree, how to enter material, how to produce descendants charts, ancestors charts and will also show us how to do things which will enable you to get the most out of the FTM software. Don't forget to bring along any Genealogy questions you may have. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Friday 22 May - Digital Photography - Peter Collard - 1 pm - 3 pm Today we welcome back Peter who has been on holidays for the last month. Introduction & Software Updates (bring your thumb drive if you want to copy my downloads). Future planned topics. Photography Exercise: critical discussion of your efforts for last month's task (if you had one in Peter's absence, or a critical discussion of some of this Thailand photos). Q&A & tips: bring us your problems and solutions. Main Topic - What's missing in low end point & shoot cameras? Bring along your comments about what you miss in using a low-end P&S camera e.g. $200 range shirt-pocket style thingies, compared to the old film camera or more expensive models. How much do you have to pay to get these features? Examples that may be considered are: second or detachable flash, cable release, easy setting (dials on the lens), histogram display, exposure bracketing..... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Tip of the Week Malwarebytes Anti-Malware is an anti-malware program that can thoroughly remove even the most advanced malware.
