COMPUTER USER GROUPS
Hello and Welcome,
The Sydney PC User Group welcomes all of our new members and subscribers and we hope that you find the resources available through the Club useful. If you have any questions or problems please bring them along to the relevant SIG where your fellow members can endeavour to solve them for you.
This coming weekend we take a break for Easter, for those of you who will have some spare time and would like to try designing ones own website using KompoZer, Peter Collard and Bob Backstrom's first tutorial is now on our website download the tutorial notes and enjoy.
Friday 9 April - Seniors - B. Parry - 9.30am - 12.30pm
This is some of the 'stuff' I would like to do at our next Friday Seniors SIG:
I'd like to complete the demo of SIW – System Information for Windows that I mentioned last month, which shows among other system information, our 'product or licensing keys'. Will only take a few minutes
I am a ‘file hoarder’!! (I am a hoarder per se!!) So are some of our members! That persuaded me to have a look at programs that will easily locate large files in any detail or configuration specified. Also I found a few programs that really get rid of your ‘rubbish files’ safely. The results of using these programs on my computers were edifying to say the least. Irrespective of the large size of today's HDDs, we can get much better performance from them with the use of such programs. And I will mention defragging too. Maybe we are getting a little complacent?
There are some interesting websites I have located covering a wide range of IT info and I think our members will appreciate them...really ‘good’ info. Free too!!
If any of our members wish to do their own thing and show us or tell us about their experience/s with programs, hardware etc they are welcome to do so.
Oh and if we get the time I'd like to revisit one of the programs that allow the instantaneous recording of 'ideas...photos...almost any data...and then retrieve the data the same way...instantaneously.
Friday 9 April - Communications - T. Eakin - 12.30pm - 3.30pm
There is no advanced information as to the topic for this SIG, but you can be sure Terry will have some new communication ideas for the group, so come along and be surprised.
Tip of the Week
AVG Rescue CD can be used in the form of a bootable CD or bootable USB flash drive to recover your computer when the system cannot be loaded normally, such as after an extensive or deep-rooted virus infection. In short, the AVG Rescue CD enables you to fully remove infections from an otherwise inoperable PC and render the system bootable again. Use the videos to guide you on creating and using an AVG Rescue CD or USB stick.
So until next week, have a safe and happy Easter break.
Please remember if your e-mail address is changed for any reason at all, unless you tell me your new address you will not receive these weekly updates! Any change of address should be notified to email@example.com
