Dear Members and Friends,

A Tribute to Peter Collard
We were deeply saddened to learn a few days before Christmas that Peter Collard had died at home in late October 2011.

When we last saw Peter earlier that month he was planning and looking forward to his regular holiday with relatives and friends in Thailand in November. The cause of his death is not known.

A member of the Sydney PC User Group since 1986, Peter had a vast knowledge and understanding of computer technology and was always very willing to help members solve their computer problems. A self-professed contrarian in every way, Peter enjoyed the latest in gadgets and computers but detested what he considered expensive, unnecessary system upgrades. However, Peter's collection of "freeware", which he kept on a jangle of memory sticks, was legendary. It seemed he had the best free program for every imaginable purpose.

Peter, a keen photographer, conducted the Digital Photography SIG for a number of years and always thoroughly researched the special topic he presented. He was very capable and always willing to step in and lead or assist any of the club's Special Interest Groups when a need arose.

Peter will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.

Yours sincerely,

The President and committee members of the Sydney PC Users Group.
