February
2009
|
Hello and Welcome, It is a very short update this week, due to an unavoidable mishap, I missed the presentation from Dell Computers, so unable to provide any news regarding the topics discussed. The only information that has been forwarded is that Steve South won the Dell Mini 9 Notebook, good one Steve and congratulations.
Saturday 7 February - Penrith - Frank Bowman - 3 pm - 6
pm
Penrith followers will be happy this weekend with the resumption of their Saturday afternoon SIG at the usual venue. It is proposed to review some of the work we did last year, but as well, we will also take a close look at spyware, review the latest news on Windows 7 (Vista's successor) and Open Office 3.0.1 . Other topics are bound to surface during the afternoon, so make the effort and join fellow members in the pursuit of computer knowledge and at the same time have fun. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ HDD Health is a full-featured hard disk failure-prediction agent that monitors your drives and provides information about each. Sitting in the system tray, it monitors hard disks and alerts you to impending failure. SpeedFan is a tool that can change your computer's fan speeds, read the temperatures of your motherboard and hard disk. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Please remember if your e-mail address is changed for any reason at all, unless you tell me your new address then you will not receive these weekly updates! Any change of address should be notified to changedetails@sydneypc.com So until next week, Cheers Elaine
