Hello and Welcome,

It is hard to believe that a year has almost past since the last Annual General Meeting. Once again, members are being asked to nominate for a position on the Committee. It is not a difficult job, and meetings are held once a month on a Saturday afternoon, where ideas/thoughts are put forward to promote the club. Nominations officially close 14 days before the AGM, please give it some thought.

Tuesday 17 March - Seniors - Graham Grant - 10 am - 12 noon

Last month we farewelled Alan Matthews who has kindly led the Tuesday Seniors for some time, on behalf of the Committee and members thank you for a job well done.

This month we welcome Graham Grant, who will start with the usual Q & A, so that you can bring your queries/problems etc. and as a group will do our best to solve them.

Graham will then take us through some 'vinyl to computer/mp3 conversion programs.

Tuesday 17 March - Genealogy - Terry Eakin - 1 pm - 3 pm

Introduction to 'St Patrick's Country' in Ulster from Armagh City to Bangor via Newry, this is now a guided tour in Ireland. Terry will also cover the latest in the free 1911 Irish census and how to be creative and getting the most out of your searches.

Last month's presentation Australian research will be completed.

Saturday 21 March - Web Design - Robert Hume - 2 pm - 4 pm

Last month we looked further at Fotopage Design's new website. The banner was edited and the page layup changed. Pictures were selected for the site with a colour pattern background added. A border was placed around a picture and the colour in the picture matched using the colour selector.

Our aim this meeting is to insert a guest book and continue to build the 'new' site .

Tips of the Week

EyeDropper - Warren Wyllie. This little programs basic function is the extremely precise reading of the monitor's colour values. All you have to do is move your mouse over the area you are interested in and, viola - you can instantly see the colour values and data in EyeDropper's console. It comes highly recommended and has been around for a long time.

ColorZilla Firefox Extension With ColorZilla you can obtain a colour reading from any point in your browser, quickly adjust the colour and paste into another program. It also has a built-in palette browser which allows you to choose colours from pre-defined colour sets. Shift + Esc will open and close the program.

LinkExtend New Firefox Extension

LinkExtend is available as a free add-on for Firefox, sorry but Internet Explorer users miss out. LinkExtend works similar to McAfee's SiteAdvisor, but is more detailed and even allows you to look behind the scenes. It looks good, was easy to install and uninstall.

Please remember if your e-mail address is changed for any reason at all, unless you tell me your new address then you will not receive these weekly updates! Any change of address should be notified to changedetails@sydneypc.com

So until next week,
