Hello and Welcome,
Firstly, thanks to those of you who attended the Annual General
Meeting. The club said a fond farewell to two long serving Committee
Members namely Alan Durham and Russell Field and it is hoped
that they will continue to come and partake in the activities of the
club as time permits.
We welcome one new face to our Committee, whom I'm sure you
all know from the well run Friday Seniors SIG namely Bill Parry. We also send a 'cheerio' call to our favourite Membership Officer,
who unfortunately could not attend as he is having a little sojourn at
Mona Vale Hospital, we all wish you a speedy recovery Mark. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Terry has a
problem with printing maps, which he would like to have someone
with experience give him and other members a lesson on how to print a
section of a map from the screen. If there is anyone prepared to assist
with this exercise, please let Terry know so that a spot will be
allotted to
you. The
main topic will be eliminating junk and phishing emails.
What you can do about the various scam bank memos and Nigerian letters
wanting personal
details. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Tips
of the Week
AVG LinkScanner is back as an
independent plug-in (free) and works much the same as the original one
did. LinkScanner evaluates link safety on the fly, as well as making click
throughs for dangerous sites much harder.
Net Usage Item displays a progress
bar of your internet usage on your Firefox Toolbar. Extension needs to be
modified to support different ISP's, so only a limited number of ISP's are
available. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Two Special Offers for PC Authority Readers
1. Complementary entry to CeBIT Australia 2009
Exhibition. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ So
until next week, Cheers Elaine Please e-mail this newsletter to
all your friends. |
