Hello and Welcome,

Once again, there is certainly a great variety of topics for the relevant SIG's this coming week, so if you have some time to spare come along, bring your questions and join your fellow members in the quest for more insight into the wonders of computing.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Monday 8 June - Stocks & Shares - Malcolm Robertson - 6 pm - 8 pm
No Stocks & Shares this month due to the Queen's Birthday holiday.
Tuesday 9 June - Programming - Neville Hoffman - 6 pm - 8 pm
At the May meeting Les showed pictures of the modifications he made to his hot water heater to run it on solar power, Wayne introduced us to the PIC10F220/222 6-Pin microcontrollers,  Alex showed a USB interface he built for an ATtiny45 microprocessor, Andrew discussed PCB autorouting using the free Diptrace program.
This month Martin will show a microprocessor device he designed that displays the baud rate being used on a serial connection, and Les will show us more details of his solar hot water heater.
Friday 12 June - Seniors - Bill Parry - 10 am - 12 noon
This month Bill would like to do a little on the Microsoft program with a fine reputation: he refers to MS OneNote !  However, he hears so little about it's use among his peers!  If there are any 'power users', or even users of 'OneNote' in the group please join him in showing it off!
Another easy to use program we can have a look at is 'StarBurn', a CD/DVD burning application that has a free version as well as a paid one...Bill will show the free one.
If anyone has something they would like to show please do so.  It's best if they drop Bill an email and let him know how much time they would like, then he can include them in his 'flow sheet'. But he knows he can include them on the day if they don't!
Maybe we can have a look at 'Bing' as well.
By the way Bill now has copies of Windows 7 RC1, both 32 bit and 64 bit which, when he gets a chance, will copy to the group's computer for members to burn an 'Image' DVD from...yes DVD..too big for CD!!
Friday 12 June - Communications - Terry Eakin - 1 pm - 3 pm
Terry will miss next Friday's meeting, however Bob Backstrom will be the leader. Terry cannot get out of the pressing domestic necessity he finds himself in. So please support the Communications SIG at 1.00 pm to 3.00 pm. Terry wishes you every success with your communications in his absence.
One topic could be: What is Google Chrome , a new Windows web browser offered by Google. When Terry logged on to the Internet it was available there for download for faster web browsing and downloading.
Tip of the Week
Microsoft Bing - introducing a new way to search. Bing is a 'decision engine'. Bing knows were to find almost anything on the web. Bing gives you a preview of the link before you click helping you avoid clicking on bad links. The explorer pane remains the same - simple, organised and consistent.
Please remember if your e-mail address is changed for any reason at all, unless you tell me your new address then you will not receive these weekly updates! Any change of address should be notified to changedetails@sydneypc.com
So until next week,
Cheers
Elaine
