Hello and Welcome,

Last Tuesday's Main Meeting started with a lively Q & A with Alex and Robert providing the answers. Alex had brought back from America a portable battery pack, which enables one to use an AC outlet when you are on-the-go and the laptop battery runs out. The battery pack comes with various connectors to suit different laptop models. I think Alex must have bottomless pockets in his coat, it is amazing to watch, as he pulls out the next interesting gadget.

Although it was just on six months since Dell presented their Dell Mini 9 and 12 netbooks, Dell returned to show us their latest. Their representative Michael Townsend gave a very comprehensive presentation on the latest models available. It was particularly interesting to see the new, much talked about touch screen, though you do end up with a pretty dirty screen! Our thanks to Michael for bringing us up-to-date on Dell's latest. You can also now buy Dell from retail outlets.

Tip of the Week

Mailinator  was the first (and still the best!) disposable e-mail service for people who want to protect their online identity. It is a tool that allows users to create an on-the-spot e-mail identity that provides anonymity and fights web inertia in one easy step.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Update regarding our membership officer, Mark Windridge's progress. Mark is undergoing rehabilitation at Mona Vale Hospital and should be able to return home and work in about six weeks.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Please remember if your e-mail address is changed for any reason at all, unless you tell me your new address then you will not receive these weekly updates! Any change of address should be notified to changedetails@sydneypc.com

So until next week,

Cheers

Elaine
