UPCOMING SIG'S
19 - 25 July 2009
DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY SIG
ASCCA 11th ANNUAL AUSTRALIAN SENIORS COMPUTER CLUBS ASSOC. CONFERENCE Powerhouse Museum 18-19 August 2009 |
Hello and Welcome, I would like to take this opportunity to welcome any new members and to those of you who have signed up to receive the weekly newsletter. If you have any spare time come along to some of the SIG's, you will be surprised at the knowledge and experience there is amongst fellow members. When one has a little bit of time on their hands, please make the effort to have a look at the trial website, it is hoped that once the site is up and running that all the SIG Leaders will enter their relevant SIG information for all to see. Windows 7
there are all kinds of
stories out there at the moment, but one that I like the sound of is the
3 user license "family pack", if Microsoft goes down this track it will
bring them in to line with other software manufacturers! but then
price needs to be reasonable.
Monday 13 July - Stocks
& Shares - Malcolm Robertson - 6 pm - 8
pm
The Market in both the USA and ASX
have started to fall over the last week or so. Will the ASX fall below 3200
again - many "Bears" think it will. At
this meeting we will: Tuesday 14 July
- Programming - Neville Hoffman - 6 pm - 8
pm
At the June meeting Martin showed a device he
designed using an ATmega8 microprocessor to calculate the baud rate being
used on a serial connection and display it on a LED screen. Les showed us
the program he wrote in C using ED for Windows, the smart
language-sensitive programmer's editor, to control his solar hot water
heater. John spoke of his use of the AVR Mega168 microprocessor to study
the performance of racing motorbikes. Shane showed pictures of KRE
Engineering's remote control tractor camera that inspects the inside of
underground pipes and sends images to a screen on the surface. Unfortunately, there is no information available
as to the topic for this afternoon's SIG, but you can be sure Robert
has organised a session that will be both interesting and
fun.
So until next week, Elaine
