11th ANNUAL |
Hello and Welcome, The Tuesday Main Meeting was presented by Seth
Shaw from LogMeIn who gave an extensive presentation of the LogMeIn
products and also donated five LogMeIn Pro licences for members to enjoy.
Seth took us through the 'ins
& outs' of LogMeIn Pro and showed us
how limitless the applications of his software are. Because it enables
remote access it can be used by every piece of hardware that connects to
the internet. Vehicle-bound servicemen can access their work
computers, support staff can sort out problems on blackberries by being
granted access by the owner, the man on the road can log in to his home
computer to download his emails, web surf, and transfer needed files from
that computer to his laptop. The Pro version even has the facility
for people to transfer photographs to the website for easy download for
all those to whom they send the link.
LogMeIn comes as a free version without all the
'Bells & Whistles', LogMeIn Pro costs $84 per year per computer, but
the website has a special offer 5 PC's for $23.75/month (or $240/year).
Our Webmaster, Steve South reported that he has
now uploaded the complete new club's website to our server.
It will run in conjunction with our existing site
during this final testing period. While the
site has already been tested satisfactorily
using five popular browsers, members are asked to thoroughly check all pages and
report any bugs. Thanks to all members who have assisted with suggestions
and advice in bringing this new website to fruition. Special thanks to
Warren Wyllie for the original design concept and his guidance on
colours and font selection, also to Bob Backstrom for tirelessly analysing
and sanctioning every step of the design. We hope you enjoy using our club's new website and will visit
often. Go there now and check it out. http://www.sydneypc.com/indexnew.html Note: Steve has advised not to click on the new
site's HOME link during the testing period as it
will take you back to the old site. It's not a fault - just the way things
work! jl
