ASCCA CONFERENCE
Australian Computer Conference for Seniors
8th & 9th September

An event not to be missed.

Hi John,

Four Special Interest Group meetings are scheduled this week with enough variety for everyone. With the weather now starting to warm up, come along and join in, you will be glad you did.

Monday 9 Aug - Stocks & Shares - M. Robertson - 5.30pm - 8.30pm
Malcolm attended the yearly Australian Investors Assocation conference at the Gold Coast a week ago. At this meeting, he will give an overview of the Conference and showing some of the more interesting Powerpoint slides.

John Lucke will show and discuss the quite impressive return on the group's "paper" share portfolio of selected stocks during the last financial year.
(Malcolm Robertson)

Tuesday 10 Aug - Programming - N. Hoffman - 5.30pm - 8.30pm
Come and show your projects, or see some others.
Last month, Les showed samples of the bottles handled by the robot he described last month, and gave details of how they are made.
Alex showed us an alarm clock radio to which he had added a Picaxe08M to play its tunes on wake-up.

Bob showed videos of various multi-legged robots.
Neville visited the Microzed webpage to show the new Picaxe-18M2. It replaces all the older 18 pin Picaxes, can run four separate tasks in parallel and operate from a 3volt battery pack.
Stuart showed how he used Microchip's 16 bit development board to make a voltmeter.
(Neville Hoffman)
Friday 13 Aug - Seniors - Peter Collard - 9.30am - 12.30pm
For the Friday Seniors I will be following the tried and true format of
Q&A / discussions followed by a presentation on Freeware Sources and
Portable Software - how to take your favorite programs with you on
holidays or to diagnose problems on a friend's computer.

Then we will hold elections for a permanent or rotating SIG leader !
(Peter Collard)
Friday 13 Aug - Communications - John Lucke - 12.30pm - 3.30pm
Firstly we will have the usual Q & A session and discussions on any aspect of internet communications. Then there will be an indepth presentation about emailing including: mailing applications and webmail options, setting up accounts, embedding and attaching image and document files, reducing file sizes, message rules, reducing spam, email security and lots more.
(John Lucke)

So until next week, health and happiness,
Cheers
John L
