ASCCA CONFERENCE
Australian Computer Conference for Seniors
8th & 9th September

An event not to be missed.

Hello and Welcome,

Don't forget this week's Main Meeting is on Tuesday evening with a chance to win some valuable prizes. See full details below.

An early agenda item for the new Committee who meet recently was the election of these officers: President - Warren Wylie, Vice President - Dennis Campanella, Secretary - John Symonds, Treasurer - John Lucke, Room Bookings & SIGs Banking - Roger Foulds, Newsletter Editor - John Mathews.
Please feel free to discuss any suggestions or issues you may have for the advancement of our club with any of these willing officers.

At the last Friday Seniors SIG, Peter Collard took the helm and steered the group through an informative Q & A session, resolving many member's queries. He then explained the different categories of mostly free down-loadable programs available from the internet. These, plus his favourite freeware sites are included in his latest report now available on the Seniors Friday page of our club's website.

In the afternoon, during the Communications SIG, we spent much of the time discussing the intricacies of emailing. This included: selecting type, opening accounts, setting rules and filters, sending photos plus lots more. You can click on our Email Tips presentation which has been published "in the clouds" using Google Docs and enjoy it at your own pace.

Tuesday 24 Aug - MAIN Meeting -  5:30pm - 8:30pm
With around seventeen new consumer notebooks and netbooks ready for release, Toshiba has something for everyone. Anthony Geronimo, Product Manager of Marketing - Consumer Division will present some of these at this meeting. He will happily delve into the details, new features and new benefits that the 2010 range from Toshiba offers us all.

They have generously offered the new Toshiba Satellite T230 notebook computer as the main meeting prize! It is a Toshiba Satellite T230 in Red - a very nice portable computer with a 13.3-inch screen and more power than your basic "netbook", thus making it a very nice prize for someone in the main meeting. The details of this notebook are here: http://www.mytoshiba.com.au/products/notebooks/satellite/t230d/pst4la-00l008 and the RRP is $799.

Friday 27 Aug - Digital Photography-  P. Collard - 9:30am - 12:30pm
