Hello and Welcome,

Some SIGs have been unable to connect to the Internet from the club's computer in recent weeks.

You will be pleased to know that the Sydney Mechanics' School of Arts has now found and repaired the fault.

A wireless card has also been installed in the club's computer to ensure that a backup system is available should a similar problem occur in the future.

The programme for the coming week is:

Friday 8 October - Seniors -  9:30am - 12:30pm

Terry Eakin will lead this Seniors SIG this month and this is his plan for the day:

"The first session will be Q & A (as usual) followed by a session on Snagit Ver 9 which I'll purchase and download for the SPCUG's use on the Windows 7 computer system. I've had it a few months but have not mastered it completely but with an enthusiastic audience, I'll learn from the more experienced members present. I'll download it and install Snagit 9 between 9.40 am and 10.00 am.

At the end of the session, Snagit 9 will remain on the Windows 7 computer for
all SIG leaders and members to use. This should take us to 12 noon.

A copy may be installed on the XP system too if someone knows how to do it!"

Terry Eakin.

Friday 8 October - Communications -  J. Lucke - 12:30pm - 3:30pm

At this meeting the group will take a close look at the programs and filtering methods that are available to prevent unwanted spam and malware arriving via email.

A question and answer session will be held at the beginning of the meeting.

So until next week, health and happiness,

Cheers,
John M
