FIRST LEGO League (FLL) is a global programme created to get children excited about science and technology.

Our President, Warren Wyllie, and his wife are both volunteers for FFL and they believe that it is a good cause.

Warren would like you to look at the two attachments to this e-mail. He also wishes you to know that the Alex Cox mentioned in the in the e-mail address is his brother-in-law.

Hello and Welcome,

At this week's Main Meeting Lloyd Borrett, AVG's Marketing and Security Guru, provided some worrying insights into the security threats that exist on the Internet and showed some of the products AVG has developed to counter these threats.

It is worth reporting that Lloyd encouraged members to use AVG's free "Linkscanner" software to scan Internet sites in real time to ensure they are safe.

AVG claims that this program will not conflict with other security software running on the same computer.

More details can be found at this site.

There is only one SIG meeting next week.

Saturday 6 November - Penrith Group  -  F. Bowman - 3:00pm - 6:00pm

This month the Penrith SIG will:
 - share problems, advice and tips during a question and answer session;
 - put together a short PowerPoint presentation;
 - consider the merits of at another image editor after having looked at Paint Shop Pro at the last meeting;
 - make a short video with Movie Maker;
 - do a small amount of website construction;
 - examine the findings in the latest Choice Computer magazine on ink costs for inkjet printers; and
 - attempt to add a sidebar to Windows 7 like the one in Vista.

It will be a full and interest packed afternoon, so come along if you can.

The Penrith SIG meets at St Clair High School, Endeavour Avenue, St Clair.

So until next week, health and happiness,
