The Sydney PC Users Group's New Telephone  Number

Our telephone number has changed to 0401 452 834.

Our President, Warren Wyllie, holds the telephone.

Hello and Welcome,

History of the Sydney PC Users Group
The Australian Seniors Computer Club has offered to publish a short history of the Sydney PC Users Group in their newsletter.

This is a welcome development but the committee needs your help to write this history.

Do you have any information about how the group was formed? What can you tell us about the events that shaped the group into what it is today? We need anecdotes, document, photographs and details of the group's past activities and events.

If you can assist with this project, please talk to a committee member or send an e-mail message to the committee at newsletter@sydneypc.com

Next week's Meetings:

Tuesday 16 November - Seniors -  G. Grant - 9:30am - 12:30pm
This month the group will look at some free and commercial "text to speech" programs.

There will also be a question and answer session to help solve some of the latest computer problems encountered by members.

Tuesday 16 November - Genealogy -  T. Eakin - 12:30pm - 3:30pm
At this meeting, Terry will discuss how to research oral history that is supported by certificates and other records. He will follow this with a discussion about how to make the most out of this newfound information.

Terry has once again prepared a paper for distribution to this group's members and friends.

This promises to be another worthwhile meeting for family history researchers.

Friday 19 November- Digital Photography-  P. Collard - 9:30am - 12:30pm
The fireworks season is fast approaching and taking photos of the amazing firework displays around Sydney is a challenge for most amateur photographers.

With that in mind, the topic of discussion for this month's meeting is "fireworks".

So come along and learn some of the techniques and tricks of taking stunning photos of fireworks so that you can put them into practice between Christmas and Australia Day.

Please note that for this month only the Digital Photography SIG is being held on the 3rd Friday rather that the 4th Friday of the month.

Saturday 20 November - Web Design -  R. Hume - 1:30pm - 4:30pm
The group is building an information site on how to configure web pages to make them easily navigable and efficient. This task and the building of the club's web pages will continue at this meeting.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So until next week, health and happiness,
Cheers,
John M
