Hello and Welcome,

The Annual General Meeting
At last Tuesday's AGM two long standing committee members retired. Warren Wyllie and Bryan McDonald have both given outstanding service to the club.

Warren Wyllie has led the club as President through some very difficult periods and Bryan McDonald was the Editor of the club's magazine, PrintScreen.
During their time on the committee the club has overcome a precarious financial position, found new club rooms, developed a new constitution and remained an interesting and enjoyable organization. Their much valued service was recognised with a vote of thanks at the meeting.

The following members were elected to the committee for the new year:
Dennis Campanella, Roger Foulds, John Lucke, John Mathews and John Symonds.
The new committee will elect the office holders at its next meeting.

Saturday 2 April - Penrith Group  -  F. Bowman - 3:00pm - 6:00pm
We still have a few items from last month that we didn't have time to discuss, so we'll continue with these. As well as our usual Q and A session around the table, where we share problems, advice and tips, we will look at the following topics:

Reviews of the newly-released Internet Explorer 9
Adding text to images with two different image editors
Extracting the audio from YouTube videos
Using Paragon Disk Manager to make an image of C: drive in Windows 7.
A recent copy of a Windows 7 magazine has an article called '71 tweaks to get the most from Windows 7'. We'll start to work our way through these.

At our last meeting, we revised notes on maximising the life of laptop batteries, and the imminent changeover from IPv4 to IPv6. People often leave big decisions to the last minute, and this is the case with the change to IPv6. We summarised notes on these two topics and made a web page, which we luckily were able to upload to an Ozemail site.

We also discussed cloud computing and the viruses that are now slowly infiltrating Macintosh computers.

We looked at an entry level ebook reader, which will also display separate images and short videos. The screen was easy on the eyes.

The Penrith SIG meets at St Clair High School, Endeavour Avenue, St Clair.

John Lucke has updated some of the club's webpages recently. These include the Communications page which has links to earlier presentations that may still be of interest to some members. John has also added some special W3C effects to the page by enclosing the links within a re-sizable box with rounded corners and a drop shadow. Members using current Chrome, Firefox, Opera or Safari browsers will see the effect but Internet Explorer users will have to wait for future versions. You can see it all here.

Cheers,
John
