Hello and Welcome,

Technology is for ever changing.

It was announced this week that scientists have set a new data speed record using just a single laser to transmit the equivalent of 700 DVDs in one second.
This discovery will not only help to fulfil the world's burgeoning high-capacity bandwidth needs of cloud computing and 3D-high definition TV, but provide an environmentally-friendly way of transmitting data over long distances.
You can read about it here.

Next week there is one SIG meeting:

Saturday 4 June - Penrith Group  -  F. Bowman - 2:00pm - 5:00pm
The group has a few items to discuss from last month's list and they will complete these before holding the usual question and answer session around the table.

The group will then move on to:

- compare two image editors for image resizing, cloning and removing red eyes;
- review some articles from recent computer magazines on tablets;
- look at Easeus Partition Manager;
- compare Google and Bing for selected searches on the Internet;
- use Paragon Disk Manager to make an image of C: drive in Vista; and
- download some mp3s and videos from YouTube.

The group meets at St Clair High School, Endeavour Avenue, St Clair.

You are welcome to attend the meeting.

Cheers,
John
