Hi John,
We would all like to have a fast broadband service
at a reasonable price.
The National Broadband Network has made a
promotional video to show what broadband could deliver to the home and you
can see it here.
Another perspective is available in
a video made by PBS that compares broadband services in
the Netherlands and the United Kingdom with those available in the
USA. It also highlights some interesting price comparisons. It can be
found here.
Closer to home, our club has three meetings
next week as follows:
Tuesday 21 June - Seniors
- G. Grant - 9:30am - 12:30pm
The group will start with the usual question and
answer session at which members are encouraged to share their computer
problems.
It will be followed by a review of the Woody Leonhard's series "Don't pay for software you don't need". Graham also has some useful utilities to demonstrate. Tuesday 21 June - Genealogy
- T. Eakin - 12:30pm - 3:30pm
John Shortland will lead the group this month. He
proposes to explore some "Guidelines to Preparing and Publishing Your
Family History".
Friday 24 June - Digital
Photography - P. Collard - 9:30am -
12:30pm
Peter will start the meeting with the usual
question and answer session and look at the photos members have taken on
the topic of Macro Photography.
He will then introduce several interesting pieces
of software that he has discovered recently which show amongst other
things how to tell if a photo has been "photoshopped" and how to
add optical filter effects to photos.
The main topic for the meeting will be "Unwanted
Light" which will mainly cover "lens flares" and how to avoid them or use
them for artistic effect.

The membership promotion vouchers are now available
at all meetings.
John
