Hello and Welcome,
Vale David Diprose - Club
President 2000 - 2002
It is with regret that we advise members of the recent death of our former President, David Diprose, after a long illness. David was enthusiastic, energetic and hard working and it was no accident that he was “at the helm” when our club finally emerged from debt. David returned to his home state of Tasmania a couple of years later and started a new business which proved successful. He had always been interested in art and when he re-married, he was doubly happy as his new wife was a prominent artist in Tasmania. The funeral was held on Tuesday 28th June at St. David's Cathedral in Hobart and your committee sent a condolence message with some Australian native flowers on behalf of members. Next week's SIG meetings are: Friday 8 July - Seniors -
Leader - 9:30am - 12:30pm
Peter Collard will lead this SIG again this month.
Peter will show the group two sets of utility
programs that are useful in several ways. While they are similar they are
built along different lines.
Sysinternals has many diagnostic tools that
Microsoft failed to include in Windows, including some things users would
pay to add. The Syinternals suite is free and now owned by
Microsoft!
The utilities from Nirsoft go even further and add
things that other software makers forgot such as a viewer for cache files,
a replacement for the file association manager, enhancements for Windows
functions and diagnostic tools - all sorts of goodies. The NirSoft package manager unites all these with
Sysinternals to make an easy menu system.
Friday 8 July - Communications
- J. Lucke - 12:30pm - 3:30pm
John's presentation this month is titled "Modern
Computer Networks (Part 2)".
This will cover Local Area Networks, Ethernet and
Wireless connections, installing and configuring modems and routers, file
sharing, synchronizing and backup, network security, media networks and
lots more.
This presentation will follow the regular
discussion and question and answer session.

Cheers,
John
