Hello and Welcome, We have three meeting in the coming week. Details are below: *Monday 11 July - Stocks & Shares - M. Robertson- 5:30pm - 8:30pm* In the last two days Malcolm has attended a Mining talk and a one day Australian Investor Association presentation on how to invest in the present market and whether you should do so now. In this regard it is interesting to note that the ASX 200 Index has hardly changed over the last five days. The Gold, Silver, Oil and Currencies indices are interesting markers as to where the market is at present and the group will take a close look at each of these. The group will also look at which stocks come up as possible "buys" in the Conscious Investor software filter. Please bring along the names of a few shares you may want to have a closer look at on the night. *Tuesday 12 July - Programming - N. Hoffman - 5:30pm - 8:30pm* At the June meeting David guided us through the program he is writing for a timer, using the free version of the HiTech C compiler. It uses a PIC 16F698, a 4-digit 7-segment display, and a piezo sounder. Christopher showed us the power supply unit he bought, a MCI-ATX switchmode unit giving 6-12volts and 250w output. We discussed the heatsinking requirements. We also discussed converting old computer power supplies to laboratory power supplies for testing microprocessor circuits. Martin showed his Bus Pirate operating as an oscilloscope, displaying a square wave from an Atmel micro. Paul showed the Netduino he bought. It is an open source electronics platform with design files and source code included. It can interface with switches, sensors, LEDs, serial devices, and more. It combines the features of microcontrollers with the ease of coding in high-level languages such as Visual Studio and C#. Some other new microprocessor applications and programming examples will be shown at this meeting. Neville Hoffman *Saturday 16 July - Web Design - R. Hume - 1:30pm - 4:30pm* At this month's meeting the group will look at some web design programs such as CoffeeCup and HTML-Kit. The features and quality of these programs will inevitably be compared with those in NetObjects Fusion, the program currently used at these meetings.
