Hello and Welcome,

Next busy week is a busy week for the Sydney PC User Group. Here are the details of the meetings:

Monday 12 December - Stocks & Shares -  M. Robertson - 5:30pm - 8:30pm
The stock market remains very volatile. The ASX 200 Index has moved sideways mostly within the range of 4000 to 4500 in recent months.

One day the market will improve and it would be nice (& advantageous) to have a list of shares to choose from when that occurs - maybe 2012, maybe 2013?

At this meeting the group will look at some of the companies that have the potential to increase in value. They will also use Roger Montgomery's new web based software program, "Skaffold", to try and pick the "good from the bad".

Tuesday 13 December - Programming -  N. Hoffman - 5:30pm - 8:30pm
At the November meeting, Martin used his Bus Pirate to display an oscilloscope read-out on a computer screen, using the Miniscope program downloaded from Futurlec.

Alex gave a tutorial on using the C# language in visual studio, the language used in his Fez Panda II computer

At next week's meeting the group will look at some other new microprocessor applications and programming examples.

Friday 16 December - Digital Photography - 9:30am - 12:30pm
There are many programs that can be used to enhance photographic images. Several of these including an old favourite of the group, Gimp, will be used at this meeting to demonstrate what can be achieved.

The group also reviews and discusses some photos brought to the meeting by members each month. On this occasion members are asked to bring some photographs that fall within the following categories:
1. a selection of their best or most interesting photographs taken during this year; and
2. some photographs taken in rainy conditions.

Come along and enjoy an interesting meeting and, if you feel inclined, linger a little longer over lunch afterwards.

Saturday 17 December - Web Design -  R. Hume - 1:30pm - 4:30pm
The group will consider what additions and alterations are to be made to their web site next Saturday.

As these meetings provide ample opportunities for members to ask questions about the construction of web sites, you are welcome to join them to learn more about this interesting activity.

Cheers,
John
