Hello and Welcome,
We have
two meeting next week. Alex Zaharov-Reutt will make one of his excellent
presentations at the Main meeting on Tuesday and John Lucke will continue
to explore the features of GIMP at the Digital Photographic SIG on
Friday.
You will find Alex's message
below.
Tuesday 24 April - MAIN
Meeting - 5:30pm - 8:30pm
April's
Main Meeting will see us taking a closer look at Windows 8 - and its
nemesis, the new iPad, with our presenter set to be me!
Windows 8 has stirred some major controversy by
ditching the Start Menu - yet it is still there, just in a totally new
form - and yes, there's much more to Windows 8.
Then there's the new iPad - alongside some
exceptional new apps that you simply must see for yourself when it is
hooked up wirelessly to the projector using the sweet little Apple
TV.
So, come down on Tuesday, learn about the latest
Windows 8 and new iPad news, and have fun!!
See you there,
Alex
Friday 27 April
- Digital Photography - 9:30am -
12:30pm
At this
meeting, the group will review a selection "landscape" photographs taken
recently by members.
It is hoped that
this exercise will encourage members to enter as a group in this year's
ASCCA photographic competition in October. This competition has six
different categories to choose from and some tips for producing award winning photographs will be
discussed at the meeting.
After a
coffee break, John Lucke will continue to explore the features of
GIMP with the main focus being on the colour
correction tools in the program. With a little practice, these simple
tools are capable of turning poorly exposed images into vibrant
photographs.
There will also be time for a question and answer
session at the meeting.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Cheers,
John
Mathews
