Hello and Welcome,
The Programming SIG will meet
on Tuesday to discuss some new microprocessor applications and programs
and on Saturday you will have an opportunity to acquire the skills to
build your own website. Details are below:
Tuesday 12 February - Programming
- N. Hoffman - 5:30pm - 8:30pm
Attendance at the January meeting was reduced due to the
record hot weather. However, Martin walked as usual from Neutral Bay to
the city, enjoying the 42deg heat. He showed his Asuro robot, a tiny
mobile robot developed for educational purposes by DLR, the German
aerospace centre. He is working on making it balance on its rear wheels by
having them respond to tilting by accelerometer readings through its
microprocessor. He also explained how to send messages wirelessly from a
microprocessor, by outputting a carrier wave to the anode of a diode and
the digital coded message to its cathode.
Johnny, having passed his exams to qualify for starting a PhD, introduced its subject of motors for electric cars. Lino spoke of the useful components that can be salvaged from a broken photocopier, and showed a lens from a photocopier. He also spoke of his application of pressure sensors and microprocessors to concertinas and accordions. Members of the group will demonstrate some new
microprocessor applications and programming examples at Tuesday's meeting.
Visitors are always
welcome.
Neville Hoffman Saturday 16 February - Web
Design - R. Hume - 1:30pm -
4:30pm
This is
your chance to learn how to build a beautiful website.
The meeting will include something for everyone
from the newbie to the master designer. Participants will look at basic
webpage construction, review some interesting sites and then quickly build
a simple three page website.
Members will be encouraged to demonstrate their
favourite web-design software and personal websites and there will be time
for a question and answer session and general discussion.
A list of web topics for future meetings will also be considered - so don't miss this important meeting. If you would like further details please contact John Lucke by telephone at 95465482 or by e-mail at spcugdb@gmail.com. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Cheers,
John
