Hello and Welcome,

We would like to congratulate Terry Eakin, the leader of the club's Genealogy SIG. Terry recently travelled to Ireland where his contribution to the Irish Genealogical Research Society was recognized and honoured by his being awarded a fellowship by the Society.  An article from the North Shore Times is attached to this e-mail.

The club's Main Meeting is being held on Tuesday and Alex Zaharov-Reutt's message about that meeting is below. There is also a meeting of the Digital Photography SIG on Friday.
Tuesday 25 June - MAIN Meeting -  5:30pm for 6:00pm - 8:30pm
Vodafone visits the SPCUG's June Main Meeting

Yes! It's that time of the month again, with just days to go before the June Main Meeting of the Sydney PC Users Group.

Our special guest this month is Allen Didovich, Vodafone's 4G guru, who will proudly showcase Australia's newest - and fastest - 4G network.

Launched last week across most major capital cities in Australia, and with massive expansion plans set to see 1000 additional 4G base stations installed across Australia by the end of the year, Vodafone has re-engineered its entire core network to deliver not only the need for speed, but a whole new breed of quality telecommunications and super-fast data - from the world's largest telecommunications company.

Come along to learn about the benefits of super-fast access, the new pricing structure, Vodafone's new commitment to quality and service, and a chance to get your 4G mobile data questions answered by one of Vodafone's best and brightest!

Vodafone are also generously donating a Sony Xperia SP for the raffle, which a lucky ticket-buying User Group member will win!

The Xperia SP is a super-fast 4G capable Android Jelly Bean 4.1.2 powered smartphone, complete with 4.6-inch HD screen with "Mobile Bravia" engine, 8 megapixel "Exmor"-class camera, a "super stamina" battery capable of delivering up to 14 hours of talk time, 8GB of storage (further expandable by up to 64GB via MicroSD card) and plenty more, which you can read about here: http://shop.vodafone.com.au/mobile-specs/sony-xperia-sp

So... get your skates on and come along to the SPCUG main meeting, where you'll get to see just how speedily you can go when your skates are infused with the awesome power of Australia's fastest 4G network!
See you there,
Cheers
Alex.

Friday 28 June - Digital Photography -  9:30am for 10:00am - 12:30pm
Panoramic photography presents many challengers for photographers and at this meeting the group will discuss how to create an image panorama without the use of specialized equipment.

In addition, the group will review this month's photo enhancement exercise and hold a discussion and question and answer session to assist members.
