Hello and Welcome,

The fellowship award conferred on Terry Eakin by the Irish Genealogical Research Society has been featured in this month's ASCCA Newsletter. A link to the newsletter is in the column on the left.

Details of next week's meetings are below.

Friday 9 August - Seniors - 9:30am - 12:30pm
At last month's meeting the group discussed some of the tools that can be used to convert video formats to the modern widely used codecs.
This theme will be continued and expanded at this month's meeting. The group will also consider how advertisements and other unwanted material can be removed from videos.

A question and answer session will be held at the beginning of the meeting.

Friday 9 August - Communications - J. Lucke - 12:30pm - 3:30pm
"Cloud computing" is maturing and vying for your attention and at this meeting John Lucke will review some of the main "cloud sites" current available to consumers.

The "cloud" can be used to backup programs, documents and photos and, more importantly, it provides access and sharing capabilities from any Internet connected site.

The free storage size, security, transfer speeds and user friendliness of Microsoft SkyDrive, Google Drive, Dropbox and other sites will be compared.

Armed with this information, members should be able to determine which "cloud" is best for their personal needs.

There will also be a question and answer session and a general discussion of any communication topics that are of interest to members.
