of next week's meetings are
below.
Tuesday 17 September
- Seniors - 9:30am - 12:30pm
Alex Zaharov-Reutt will give
a tutorial at next week's Main Meeting about the speed, capacity and
prices of the solid-state drives currently available in the market place
and the benefits that can be derived from installing them in our
computers.
At this week's seniors meeting the group will
undertake a preliminary discussion about solid-state drive technology so
that members can obtain the maximum benefit from Alex's
tutorial.
The usual question and answer
session will be available at the meeting to help resolve any difficulties
members are experiencing with their
computers.
Tuesday 17 September - Genealogy
- T Eakin - 12:30pm - 3:30pm
Terry Eakin had intended to
talk about the Biographical Database of Australia at this meeting but as
the database will not be made available until later in the month he will
explore some other sources for finding details of Births, Marriages and
Deaths in Australia, including early Church Records, Musters &
Censuses, Cemetery Records and other Indexes.
He will conclude the session by looking at
newspaper notices and discussing how the problems of establishing dates of
death can be solved.
A question and answer session will provide members
with an opportunity to discuss any family history issues they have
encountered. Saturday 21 September
- Web Design - S South - 1:30pm -
4:30pm
At this
meeting Steve South will start looking at Response Web Design.This idea is all about one
design that will fit all shapes. The group will begin by looking at some
tutorials on the basic concepts and then move into the core components
that make a web page responsive, starting with Media Queries.
Over the following months the group will look at fluid image design and how to layout a site to improve its appearance over all formats from big screens to small smartphones. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
