Solid State Drives

Roger Foulds has prepared a list of interesting links to sites containing information about SSDs. The list is attached to this e-mail message.

Hello and Welcome,

Alex Zaharov-Reutt will be the presenter at the Main Meeting on Tuesday and his message to members is below.

Tuesday 24 September - MAIN Meeting - 5:30pm for 5:45 - 8:30pm
It's September, which is the perfect month to drive yourself towards a new solid state.

What am I on about? Solid State Drives, or SSDs, the newest way to turbo charge your computer and make it run at lightning fast speeds - and at prices that are sure to surprise you, given that a decent fast new computer is still likely to cost you in the vicinity of $1000+.

This month's presentation and tutorial will revolve around the Solid State Drive, explaining what it is and the benefits, how it works, how much it costs, and what you need to do to install one yourself in your own desktop or laptop.

Separately, I'll also give you a demonstration of Apple's new iOS 7, alongside the brand new iPhone 5S and the iPhone 5C, Apple's flagship new smartphones that are sure to be even bigger hits for Apple in 2013 than all the iPhones before it.

So... super fast SSD technology alongside truly amazing new smartphones powered by the world's most advanced - and beautiful looking mobile operating system - and you have all the ingredients for what will be a super September main meeting!

That's alongside whatever prizes we can cook up, interesting new sites, tech news and Q&A.
See you there!
Cheers
Alex

Friday 27 September - Digital Photography - 9:30am - 12:30pm
At this meeting the group will look at how Microsoft's Movie Maker program can be used to edit and convert the formats of video recordings.

There will also be a question and answer session for members to discuss computer and digital photography issues.
