Hello and Welcome,

Support for the very popular Windows XP operating system ends on 8 April 2014 and that prompts us to remind you that Microsoft's Jeff Alexander will make a major and very timely presentation at the Main Meeting on 22 April. This is a meeting that could be of great interest to your friends, relatives and colleagues so bring them to the meeting to learn about Windows 8.1 and its future development.

Details of next week's meetings are below.

Tuesday 8 April - Programming - N Hoffman - 5:30pm - 8:30pm
At the March meeting Andrew spoke about the numbering systems in computer languages.

Martin showed us a board he made to connect various sites via a mobile network to an Internet server so they can be monitored from the Internet.

Lino showed a movie from the South Australian PIC User Group of a Pick and Place machine made by one of their members.

Members of the group will demonstrate some new microprocessor applications and programming examples at Tuesday's meeting.  -  Neville Hoffman

Friday 11 April - Seniors - 9:30am - 12:30pm
John Lucke has prepared a two part cloud presentation for the Fridays Seniors SIG and the first part titled "Regaining Control of Your PC's Start-up Process" will be presented to members at this meeting.

In this presentation he will examine many of the options that are available to safely delay, disable or remove any processes that may have taken over and painfully slowed a computer at start-up time.

He will also demonstrate how members can perform some basic cleaning procedures to help return their computers to a near pristine condition.

Part 2 titled "Maintain Control of Your PC's Processes" will be given at next month's meeting.

Friday 11 April - Communications - J Lucke - 12:30pm - 3:30pm
John Lucke has prepared another cloud presentation for this meeting which he has called "A Review of the latest Email Back-up Apps & Services".

In this presentation John will provide details of some of the apps and services that can be used to back up computer based emails to the cloud and conversely how web-mail can be saved to a computer or an external storage device.

He will also show members how to safely compress and backup all their Windows Live Mail emails in less than 2 seconds and restore them just as fast!!!

Question and answer sessions will be available at both of the meetings held on Friday.
