July's Training Courses

Hello and Welcome,

There are two meetings next week as follows:

Tuesday 13 May - Programming - N Hoffman - 5:30pm - 8:30pm
At the April meeting Steve spoke about the Raspberry Pi he bought recently and introduced us to the Pi tutorials on the element14 website.

Andrew showed how he reduced the size and cost of an old PCB by replacing many components with PIC125683 microprocessors.

Darwin showed how he is using the Nordic Semiconductor nRF24L01+ transceiver to wirelessly connect equipment.

Members of the group will demonstrate some new microprocessor applications and programming examples at Tuesday's meeting.  -  Neville Hoffman

Saturday 17 May - Web Design - S South - 1:30pm - 4:30pm

This presentation will examine the issues and process of finding, registering and configuring a domain name as well as a web hosting package.

The presentation will start with a brief look at the underpinning fundamentals of the domain name space, (i.e. the complete URL).  The issues associated with considering the appropriate scope of, searching for and finally finding an appropriate domain name will be examined.  This part of the presentation will conclude with an explanation of how to register a domain name and then configure the DNS record.  The process of purchasing a web hosting package will be augmented with a detailed examination of the issues to be considered before making the final commitment to a web hosting provider.

This presentation will include a number of live demonstrations in order to enhance the material presented.  Along with the detailed notes, a comprehensive glossary of terms will also be available.

The presentation notes and a glossary of terms (in PDF format) will be available for download (from the afternoon before the presentation) from http://www.floatingpoint.com.au/downloads      - Christopher Murman
