Australian Engineering week 4 - 10 August 2014.
A series of events will be held during this week, some of which may be of interest to members.

Details the events can be seen here.

Hello and Welcome,

The club has three meeting next week and details are below.

Tuesday 15 July - Seniors - 9:30am - 12:30pm
At this meeting members will be asked to discuss the programs they use or have used in the past with particular emphasis being given to the benefits, shortcomings and disasters they have experienced with the programs.

Good programs are often mentioned at meetings but this is an opportunity for members to not only recommend their favourite programs but also those programs they intend to avoid using in the future.

A question and answer session will also be held at the meeting to assist members with any computer related problems they are experiencing.

Tuesday 15 July - Genealogy - T Eakin - 12:30pm - 3:30pm
At this meeting Terry Eakin will talk about "Origins", a commercial user pay site, which he has subscribed to for about 16 years. The site has extensive family history records from Ireland England, Scotland and Wales.

The company has now been sold to "Find My Past" another well-known commercial family history site. While all the commercial sites have extensive family history records none have a complete set of the available data for the genealogist to search. Their services are also not cheap and they can cost hundreds of dollars to use.

While Terry regards the subscription fee for "Origins" as being reasonable in the past, he will not know the fee for "Find My Past" until his subscription is due for renewal in August.

As usual Terry has prepared an informative session about the services provided by these companies for this meeting. Visitors are always welcome.

Saturday 19 July - Web Design - S South - 1:30pm - 4:30pm
This month Steve South will discuss creating forms on web pages.

The group will first look at the basics of creating a form in HTML, starting with the HTML tags that make up a form.

Then they will consider the elements that are needed for the various types of forms being created, as for example, the elements that are needed in a form asking for comments on a topic.

A short video on how to create a form will follow and the session will be concluded with a practical exercise of creating a form with the program "Web Expression".
