Hello and Welcome,
The first Main Meeting of the
Sydney PC User Group for 2015 will be held on Tuesday and Alex
Zaharov-Reutt's comments about the presenter are
below.
Tuesday 27 January - MAIN
Meeting - 5:30pm - 8:30pm
A fresh new year has arrived
at last, with plenty of exciting tech developments to come throughout 2015
- including in the competitive prepaid voice and data space to keep us all
connected on the go.
So, we're starting the year
with our special guest Anuraag Mohan (Anu), who is Boost Mobile's General
Manager of Digital, Platforms & Engagement.
Anu will not only give us an overview of the MVNO (mobile
virtual network operator) prepaid phone/data market in Australia, but will
showcase Boost Mobile's prepaid deals and the network is uses, which is
Telstra's 3.5G/Next G network to deliver superior coverage and
data.
Anu will explain Boost's headline $40 UNLTD plan, which
offers unlimited calling to mobiles and landlines in Australia (including
13 and 18 numbers), the included 2.5GB of data with Bonus 500MB when
paying by credit/debit card or PayPal until March
2015.
He'll also showcase Boost's brand new, extreme value $99
prepaid Android smartphone with 5-inch screen (alongside other prepaid
models) and will hopefully tell us if we might see 4G data on Boost's
network one day to compete with Optus-delivered MVNO's such as Yatango
which offers 4G and Amaysim which will have 4G around Easter, although
Boost's use of Telstra's Next G network already delivers 4G-like speeds -
and has been for some time.
Boost Mobile is donating two
great prizes for the main meeting raffle.
First is the Alcatel OneTouch
5.0-inch Android smartphone, which will come with one Boost SIM pre-loaded
with $40 of pre-paid, no contract credit, giving you the unlimited calls
to Australian numbers listed above and 2.5GB of data for 30
days.
This is a great phone that
shows you how far modern smartphones have come technologically while being
available at startlingly good price points, so you'll definitely want to
see it - and win it!
The second prize is another
Boost SIM, also pre-loaded with 30 days worth of unlimited calls and 2.5GB
of data, valued at $40 - again, pre-paid with no
contract.
The winners can elect to
activate the SIMs as brand new numbers, or can port their existing numbers
across to Boost.
So, make sure you're at our
January Main Meeting to learn about the best value prepaid offering in the
Australian market, to see the latest quality yet low cost pre-paid
Androids and to have a chance of winning one for yourself, complete with a
month's worth of credit!
We'll also have our usual
Q&A, consumer reports, interesting sites, tech news and
more.
Start your year off with a
boost - we'll see you there!
Cheers,
Alex ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
