Hello and Welcome,

Details of next week's meetings are below.

The poor weather conditions prompted the members of the Family History Group to cancel their meeting last month and as a result the meeting details for their meeting below are the same as those outlined last month.

Tuesday 19 May - Tuesday Forum - T Kelly - 9:30am - 12:30pm
Tim Kelly will lead a discussion on the backup and restore options contained in Windows 7 and 8 at this week's meeting. He will also explore some of the new functions in these operating systems such as UEFI and TRIM that allow improved management of the latest computer hardware.

As always the group will look at some interesting websites and free software as well as having a question and answer session.

Tuesday 19 May - Family History - T Eakin - 12:30pm - 3:30pm
This meeting will be about Cemeteries, Gravestone Inscriptions, Burial Registers and Associated Records.

How often have you wished you had asked more questions of your parents, grandparents and their siblings about their knowledge of their family history when they were alive?

Sometimes family history clues can be found on gravestone inscriptions or by observing the names on nearby gravestones or the state of care of the burial plot. You may also find fresh flowers and a card on a grave that is visited around Mother's Day and that may lead you to someone you do not know or have never contacted.

Terry Eakin will explore all avenues of burial and cremation research with the main focus being on New South Wales and Australia but he will also briefly discuss the records that can be located in United Kingdom and elsewhere.

Some people may have family members who were casualties during World War I or World War II and whose remains were interred overseas or were not recovered. As their names may be reported on a memorial located in France, Turkey, Egypt or the United Kingdom Terry will also discuss how these records may be located as well.

There will be a question and answer session during the meeting.

Friday 22 May - Digital Photography - 9:30am - 12:30pm
At this meeting the group will look at and discuss the range of digital photography e-books that are available on the Internet.

There will also be a question and answer session and a general discussion about digital photography at the meeting.
