Hello and Welcome,

The Programming and Web Design SIGs will meet next week. Details of their meetings are below.

Tuesday 13 October - Programming - N Hoffman - 5:30pm - 8:30pm
At the September meeting David talked about his visit to China, where he was shown through a factory making Raspberry Pi computers. He was told of plans they have for future developments and their ideas about a future in which hand held devices may come to rival desktop computers.

Steve discussed the remote control devices that have become known as the Internet of Things. By embedding technology in devices, data can be collected and autonomously transferred to and from other devices, causing them to change their behaviour. Utilising this technology will lead to a vast increase in automation.

Summaries of many of the previous meetings can be seen at: http://www.sesame.com.au/picclub

The members will have some new microprocessor applications and programming examples at Tuesday's meeting.                                                       Neville Hoffman

Saturday 17 October - Web Design - S South - 1:30pm - 4:30pm
This month the Web Design group will look at the development tools available in most web browsers. These tools can be used to identify faults in pages or help a web builder write and check pages that work on those browsers.

The group will also look at a video discussing how they can use these development tools. They will see how to edit pages “on the fly” with the changes showing up on the browser. The video also includes ideas on how to trace errors and save changes for reuse.

Last week a member of the group was offered a discount on the "WebSite X5" web design software and wondered if it was a good product. On Saturday the group will review the program to see what it has to offer.
