Hello and Welcome,
Details
of next week's meetings
are below.
Tuesday 15 September
- Tuesday Forum - 9:30am - 12:30pm
This
month's Forum will be devoted to member's questions and comments about the
programs they use and the websites they visit.
As the
range of topics that can be discussed is almost endless, the shared
experience and expertise of members at the meeting will be very interesting.
Tuesday 15 September - Family
History - T Eakin - 12:30pm - 3:30pm
At this
month's meeting Terry Eakin will discuss how you can find your United
Kingdom ancestors.
During
the course of the meeting he will look at the Births, Marriages and Deaths records including
those during 1837-2005 and the Overseas records, the Complete 1841-1911
Census for England & Wales, the largest online collection of
Non-Conformist Records, Parish Records, Wills, Probates and Testaments,
Military Records, School, College & University Registers, and
miscellaneous other sources.
If time permits Terry will
also look at The Genealogist, FindMyPast & Ancestry
websites.
Saturday
19 September - Web Design - S South - 1:30pm -
4:30pm
At this
month's meeting the members of the group will look at how a website is
broken down into rows and columns, as shown in Russ Weakley's
tutorial on creating a modern webpage, and explore how he creates his
base CSS file.
They
will also consider how these ideas can be employed in their own web sites.
The
group will then look at Microsoft Edge in Windows 10 and consider what it
has to offer the web designer.
Of
particular interest is the Reading View icon that appears in
the address bar. They will consider whether there are any differences
between the "reading view" and the "print view" and whether designers
need to do anything to a site to make the "reading view" work.
