Reports from our 2014 Meetings
This month we had a good look at the HTML codes you can use to create a basic layout, the two basic are body, and div, along with h1-6 and p , which are used to setting up the outline of a page. In HTML5 they have added several more based on research indicating the most common names used to identify the div. The basic ones are header, nav, section, article, aside and footer. We then projected a few templates on the white board and sliced them up with a marker. We then compared our mark up with the templates HTML. Pleasingly we got them right.
After the break we had a look at the sites of Max Design;http://www.maxdesign.com.au/articles/css-layouts/
and Matthew James Taylors
perfect 3 colume template both of which have some free basic layout templates.
Based on those templates Steve South has devised some HTML 5 templates;
The first has a full page header and nav area with a centred main panel and background.
The next has the header, nav and main pages centred in the browser.
And a scaled down version of Matthew James Taylors holy grid.
